choose your new side hustle
Find the courses, products, and resources to build and grow your side hustle into a money-making business!
At Hustleversity, we're all about making things simple! So, before you get too far into the world of 3d printing, you're going to have to make a couple of choices. The first choice is which 3d modeling software you will be using. This is what you use to create your 3d designs. We always recommend using as many free tools as possible while you are starting out. So, that is why our recommendation is either using Blender or FreeCAD for design. It is free, has a huge user community, and is a very capable design tool that you can grow with, even as you become more skilled.
Without getting too deep in the 3d printing weeds, once you create your design, you need to convert it into a language called "g-code" that your 3d printer will understand. This is typically done using "slicer" software. Our recommendation is to use the very popular and very free Cura software.
If you're ready to explore the world of 3D printing, here are the best courses, products, and resources to help you learn the skills and start creating.

CNC machining courses will vary depending on the machine and design software that you choose to use. In essence, learning how to design on one piece of software may not translate directly to another. For simplicity, we want to take the guesswork out of the equation for you. So, we will recommend a CAD program (design) and CAM program (translating your design into language that your CNC machine will understand) that will get you started on the right foot.
There are many options when choosing a design software, but we are recommending FreeCAD as an excellent free, open-source option. It also has the ability to act as CAM software for an all-in-one experience. If you have some extra money, you should just use Autodesk Fusion 360. There really is no competition for an intuitive, professional, and comprehensive CAD/CAM design software. Either way, you will have the tools you need to be successful.
These courses will get you going and familiarize you with basic tools and functions, but we recommend looking for specific videos according to what you are trying to design.
